KWC was founded by Lawrence Kramer and Weldon Wilson as a managing general agency in California.

THE CREATION OF CENTURY-NATIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY (CNIC)
CNIC is a California domiciled property and casualty company that focused initially on auto physical damage policies sold through auto dealerships.

INCORPORATION OF KW REINSURANCE COMPANY, LTD.
Originally domiciled in Turks and Caicos, KW Reinsurance supported Century-National Insurance Company.

ACQUISITION OF WESTERN GENERAL AGENCY
WGA was an agency that specialized in homeowners insurance sourced through banks and mortgage lenders. The acquisition of WGA CNIC's entry into homeowners’ segment, which quickly became its more dominant line of business.

KWC sold CNIC to National General but retained KW Reinsurance.

KW SPECIALTY INSURANCE COMPANY
KW Reinsurance was domesticated to the United States and the State of Delaware. During this shift, the company name was changed to “KW Specialty Insurance Company,” and was granted a Certificate of Authority as a Domestic Surplus Line Insurer domiciled in Delaware.

AM BEST A- XIII RATING
In May of 2018, A.M. Best has assigned a Financial Strength Rating (FSR) of A- (Excellent) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating (Long-Term ICR) of “a-” to KW Specialty Insurance Company (KWS) (Wilmington, DE).
